A suicide bomber has attacked a police checkpoint in the Pakistani city of Peshawar on Saturday, killing at least five people, officials said.
Unconfirmed reports put the death toll at seven with at least 25 others injured.
Local media said a car laden with explosives had been driven into the checkpoint in the Pushta Khara area.
Government official Sahibzada Muhammad Anis said the car exploded as police went to search it, AP news agency said.
Television footage showed a large cloud of smoke and the wreckage of cars.
Peshawar has been regularly targeted by militants in recent weeks.
A car bombing on Friday on intelligence agency offices in the city killed at least 12 people and injured 40.
Two weeks ago more than 100 people were killed in a blast at a market.
Bomb attacks have dramatically increased across Pakistan as the army continues an offensive against Taliban militants in the South Waziristan region.
