Faulkner had gone to Pakistan in search of Osama Bin Laden who the al-Qaeda leader who was allegedly behind the 9/11 bombings.
The 51-year-old one, who was on a one man mission to kill Bin Laden had been arrested on 13 June in a wooded area while attempting to cross the mountainous region of northern Pakistan into Afghanistan.
He was armed with a pistol, sword, a map, night-vision goggles and Christian literature.
After being caught by Pakistani security officials, Faulkner admitted that he was in the country in search of Osama Bin Laden to kill or capture the wanted leader.
Mr Faulkner had left the US on May 30th after his brother dropped him off at the airport. Relatives of the 51-year-old said that he was not armed and had a valid visa when travelling to Pakistan and had not committed any crime.
Mr Faulkner left Colorado on May 30. Scott Faulkner dropped him off at the airport and wasn’t sure he’d see him again. But he and other relatives have insisted that Gary Faulkner left the US unarmed, had a valid visa for Pakistan and was guilty of no crime while there.
Gary Faulkner arrived in Denver’s airport at midnight Wednesday where he said “All I want to do is get some rest.”
Faulkner continued “This is not about me. What this is about is the American people and the world,” he said. “We can’t let people like this scare us. We don’t get scared by people like this, we scare them and that’s what this is about. We’re going to take care of business.”
The ABC News agency also reported that Faulkner was determined to continue his mission.
“It’s not like what people think as if I woke up one day and said, ‘I’ve got nothing better to do with my life, why not this?'”
“People who think it’s unrealistic never get off their couch and stay in front of the TV set and the movies and do something with their life.”
“Right now, I’m out of wind, I need dialysis and some rest. Thank you and for all those who had something negative to say, sucks to be you.”
Faulkner was reported to have received dialysis treatment while in Pakistan.
Mr Faulkner was reported to be an unemployed construction worker and had sold his tool to accumulate the finance on a total of six tips.
