Obama Erdogan confer on Syrian unrest and Assad’s future
U.S. President Barack Obama discussed Syria conflict and Africa famine over a telephone conversation with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“The two leaders lay stress on the urgency of the conflict in Syria, emitting deep concern over the Syrian government’s and leaders’s Assad’s use of uncontrolled violence on civilians as well as affirmed the significance of the need to meet legitimate expectations of the Syrian people for transition to democracy,” stated Turkish premier’s press office.
Obama and Erdogan had called for an immediate halt of bloodshed and violence against the civilians in Syria in the meeting via phone.

According to the statement, Erdogan and Obama also discussed and shared deep concerns over the famine in Africa, expressing, “they have reached an agreement to cooperate closely to fight the tragic drought and ensuing famine in the African Horn and to arrange relief and aid efforts to save innocent lives in the region of Somalia providing assistance to needy familie .”
The official statement informed, Obama and Erdogan have agreed to monitor closely steps to be taken by the Syrian government and to continue counseling and agreed to keep track of the developments in Syria under Assad regime.”
