In Nigeria, a large proportion of the 200 million inhabitants are without electricity. The national network collapsed on Friday, and the government blames vandalism.
In Nigeria, after a collapse of the national power grid, there were widespread power outages. On Sunday, large parts of Africa’s most populous country were without power for the third day in a row.
The Department of Energy cited vandalism as the reason for the recent outage, which began Friday night. Work is being done to restore the supply, it said.
Power outages are common in Nigeria. This year alone, the national power grid has collapsed several times. Vandalism and the poor condition of the infrastructure were given as reasons for past failures.
