Two Premier League footballers from Sunderland, Lee Cattermole and Nicklas Bendtner have been arrested after cars were damaged in Newcastle city centre.
London / NationalTurk – Sunderland footballers Lee Cattermole and Nicklas Bendtner were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and bailed following an incident in Stowell Street, Newcastle, at about 10pm on December 6.The alleged damage, believed to have involved at least three cars, was said to have taken place two days after struggling Sunderland lost 2-1 at Wolves in thePremiere League.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “Northumbria police can confirm that on Thursday December 15 two men aged 23 were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. It follows an investigation into cars damaged on Stowell Street in Newcastle city centre which happened about 10pm on Tuesday December 6. The two men have been bailed.
Sunderland players arrested for vandalism
The two men the police is referring to turned out to be Sunderland players Lee Cattermole and Nicklas Bendtner. Nicklas Bendtner, a Danish international, is spending a year on Wearside on loan at Sunderland from Arsenal, whereas Lee Cattermole is the Sunderland captain.
