New mega recall from Mercedes-Benz

New trouble for Mercedes drivers: The luxury brand is recalling 250,000 cars. These nine models have to go to the workshop.

A spokesman for Mercedes-Benz confirmed on Tuesday the recall of around 250,000 vehicles worldwide. The recall was published according to the entries in the recall database of the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA).

The recall affects these nine models

The recall affects the AMG GT, C-Class, CLE, E-Class, EQE, EQS, GLC, S-Class and SL models, all from 2023. In Germany alone, more than 37,000 vehicles could be affected.

According to KBA, the reason for the recall is possible problems with certain fuses that do not meet the requirements. This could lead, among other things, to engine damage, although the risk of fire cannot be ruled out.

What is a recall?

Whether it’s food, medicine or household appliances: there are recalls everywhere. Products with a defect or malfunction are ordered back by the manufacturer. Spoiled food is disposed of and serious defects in cars are repaired. However, the spread of the recall in the media only reaches a small proportion of those affected. This is one of the reasons why car manufacturers are required by law to involve the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA).

The Mercedes spokesman announced that certain parts would be replaced on the affected vehicles as a precautionary measure. The planned workshop stay will last between two and five and a half hours, depending on the equipment. The work is free of charge for customers.

Second recall in two weeks

Just last week, Mercedes had to recall 75,000 cars worldwide. That promotion affects the E-Class, the CLS and the AMG GT. A possibly incorrect fastening in the engine compartment can lead to an increased risk of fire. 75,159 cars have to go into workshops worldwide, 14,080 of them in Germany.
