Islamabad, May 12/Nationalturk – A Pakistan Navy official was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi on Monday.
Officials said gunmen travelling on motorbikes opened fire on a car of Pakistan Navy official Ghulam Akbar near Karsaz area of Karachi in Sindh province early Monday morning.
“Akbar received critical bullet injuries and was evacuated to hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead,” they said.
Akbar’s wife was quoted as saying by Pakistan media that he sustained bullet injuries in head and died while being shifted to hospital.
Immediately after the attack, police and paramilitary soldiers reached the area and launched a manhunt to track the attackers. However, no arrests were reported.
Sources said security men have taken a motorcycle and a pistol in custody from the incident site.
Police officials said preliminary investigation has revealed that a 9mm gun was used in the attack.
The motive of the attack was being ascertained. He is the 4th Navy officer to be killed in Karachi city in last one year
The exact designation of the slain Navy official was also being ascertained.
