The NATO force in Afghanistan on Tuesday revised down its death toll for the previous day, stating five foreign soldiers were killed rather than six.
Three US soldiers, one French trooper and a British bomb disposal expert were killed on Monday, NATO’s International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said.
ISAF had said that another soldier died in the clash in eastern Afghanistan which killed the French trooper, but said on Tuesday that the soldier had in fact been badly injured.
“This ISAF member was wounded, but remains in critical condition,” the US-led coalition said in a statement.
The US servicemen were killed fighting insurgents in southern Afghanistan — the heartland of the Taliban-led insurgency — while the British ordnance expert was killed in a blast in southern Helmand province.
