Police in Edinburgh Scotland are appealing for help to trace a three-year-old boy Mikael Kular who has gone missing from his home.
Mikeel Kular was last seen going to bed at his home address in Ferry Gait, Edinburgh, at 9pm last night.
But, when his mother went to find him at around 7.45am, the little boy was missing.
A police helicopter is involved in the search and officers are conducting local enquiries in the area.
The child is described as 3ft tall and possibly wearing a beige hooded jacket, brown shoes and nightwear.
Scotland Correspondent James Matthews said: “Police particularly want to know how he left the house. That is the main thrust of the inquiry at this very early stage.
“An urgent police appeal has gone out to anyone who may have any information to get in touch with them – anyone who remembers seeing a young boy matching the description of Mikeel … clearly time is of the essence.”
Former Scotland Yard detective Peter Bleksley told media: “Police have already mobilised the air support unit, there will be dogs on the ground – or there certainly should be – they may be able to do tracking, that sort of thing.
“And they will also be making inquiries about local registered sex offenders – checking those addresses out, speaking to those people, as well as all the relatives and other people who are known to the child.”
Chief Inspector Sara Buchanan said: “We have currently got a large police presence within the Drylaw area as we conduct our enquiries to trace Mikeel.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who remembers seeing a young boy matching his description since yesterday evening to contact police immediately.
“As part of our investigation we are also trying to determine how the child has left his home and anyone with information that can assist with these enquiries is also asked to get in touch.”
