Mask maker Dean Kronsbein has died in a yacht accident in Italy. According to media reports, his wife and daughter are seriously injured.
The German-British mask and filter producer Dean Kronsbein died in an accident with his yacht off Sardinia. British media and the PA news agency report this in unison and refer to a statement from the family.
The British “Daily Mail” writes that the mask millionaire’s wife and his 27-year-old daughter Sophia were seriously injured. Apparently, the boat crashed into a rock after an evasive maneuver near Porto Cervo, a popular vacation spot for the rich in Sardinia. The family was on deck at the time. Kronsbein was rescued from the water by members of the crew of the other ship, but succumbed to his injuries.
According to the Coast Guard, the damaged yacht was towed into the port of Porto Cervo. There will be an investigation, it said – also on the question of whether the ship may have been traveling too fast.

Kronsbein was friends with the TV star Richard Hammond, known among other things for the car series “Top Gear” and the Amazon successor “Grand Tour”. He told the Daily Mail: “I am deeply shocked by this heartbreaking news. He really was a larger than life character and I know people say that a lot, but he really was and the world needs more people like him.”
Medium-sized company Kronsbein sold millions of masks with his company “Ultra Filter GmbH” during the lockdown in Great Britain, among other things. The company has one of its headquarters in Hilden in North Rhine-Westphalia and another in Ross-on-Wye in western England, where the 62-year-old entrepreneur also lived. The “Bild” newspaper reports that Dean Kronsbein is the son of the Munich gallery owner Dirk Kronsbein.
