Scandal professional Martin Hinteregger ends his career

Although Martin Hinteregger is popular with the fans, he probably made too many mistakes.

The defender Martin Hinteregger has ended his career.

That comes as a surprise: Eintracht Frankfurt announced on Twitter that Martin Hinteregger is ending his active career.

In a statement from the club it says: “Today, Thursday, June 23, 2022, Martin Hinteregger informed the board of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG in a personal conversation that he would like to end his active career as a professional soccer player and asked him to do so immediately prematurely from the obligations of his employment contract valid until June 30, 2024.”

It goes on to say: “The board of directors complied with this request after intensive discussions with the player and his advisor Christian Sand and after consultation with head coach Oliver Glasner and suspended the Austrian’s contract.”

The interview is said to have taken place on Wednesday

He is quoted as saying in the club’s statement: “I enjoyed the Europa League victory so much because I knew then that it would be my last big victory celebration with the fantastic fans in this city, which is my second home I will only look back on my time at Eintracht with great gratitude and joy.”

As the “Bild” reports, there was a conversation between Hinteregger, his advisor Christian Sand and sports director Markus Krösche on Wednesday. In this he is said to have announced the decision.

Martin Hinteregger caught the eye with missteps

Hinteregger has repeatedly attracted attention in the past with missteps. After winning the Europa League, he celebrated too long and missed saying goodbye to colleagues. In addition, the journalist Michael Bonvalot recently reported on Hinteregger’s relations with Heinrich Sickl, who has connections to the right-wing camp in Austria.

Hinteregger continues in the mediation: “Last autumn I had my first thoughts of retiring after the season. I was in a difficult phase in terms of sport: My performance was fluctuating. The victories didn’t feel so good anymore, everyone did that Defeat hurts twice as much.”
