Pakistan military said many foreign militants were killed when jet planes bombed militant hideouts in North Waziristan tribal agency on Saturday.

Islamabad, July 5/Nationalturk – Pakistan military on Saturday said many foreign militants were killed when jet planes bombed militant hideouts in North Waziristan tribal agency, where army has launched operation against terrorists on June 15.

“The militant hideouts and safe havens were bombed by fighter jets in Daigan, Poikhel and Muhammadkhel areas in North Waziristan early today,” a Pakistan army spokesman said.

He said many foreign militants were died in the bombing.

“Five hideouts and large quantity of weapons were destroyed in the latest aerial bombing,” the spokesman said.

Soldier killed in IED blast

Pakistan soldier was killed in Miramshah during clearance of IEDs yesterday.

“Niak Fiaz Mohammad was killed when an IED exploded during the search operation,” army spokesman said.

Official sources said militants have planted IEDs on roads and houses in Miramshah and other areas in the North Waziristan and the soldiers have to clear every inch of ground of explosives before moving ahead.

They said during search operations security forces have recovered literature and flags of different international militant organisations, including the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU), the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), the Uighurs etc.

After army launched military operation against local and foreign militants in North Waziristan on June 15 this year, over 0.6 million people have fled from the area and are living in different areas.

According to Pakistan military, over 400 militants and 20 soldiers have been killed in the operation so far.
