Manchester United winger, Antonia Valencia will have surgery on his left leg after leaving the field in agony due to a broken leg and dislokated foot.

The 25-year-old winger drafted in to Old Trafford to replace Cristiano Ronaldo last year was stretchered off on the 60th minute during Manchester United’s 0-0 draw with Scottish champions, Rangers.

Though the challenge by rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot looked like a regular tackle, the Ecuadorian was left lying in agony and SKY who were airing the match decided not to repeat the tackle.

Broadfoot who looked visibly distressed by the condition of Valencia’s leg said “I just remember sliding in, getting up and looking round to see his bone sticking out.”

Sir Alex Ferguson who spoke after the match said “It looks like a dislocation and a fracture, we’re talking the rest of the season.”

“It is a bad blow for the boy. It is similar to the injury Alan Smith got.

“He seemed to dig his toe into the turf and as soon as we saw the Rangers player waving we knew it was a bad one.”
