Manchester United Transfer:David Moyes new manager Scotsman signs 6 years contract / Breaking News

Liverpool v Everton - Premier League

Everton Boss Scotsman David Moyes Manchester United’s new manager club will confirmed, Moyes was Sir Alex Ferguson’s preference.

Everton boss David Moyes is all but confirmed as the new Manchester United manager this evening.

Sir Alex Ferguson shocked the world with the announcement that he will end his 26 year reign as Manchester United manager early on Wednesday morning. The Scot had decided that his long and successful tenure at the helm of Old Trafford should come to an end after United’s last home game against West Brom on May 19th.

Speculation was rife as to who will replace Sir Alex Ferguson but it seems that the man has been chosen and that man is Everton manager – David Moyes.

Moyes has been in charge at Goodison Park since 2002 and is currently the third longest serving manager in the Premier League, behind Ferguson and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger. Although many will point to Moyes’ lack of experience in the Champions League and the fact that he has not won a trophy during his time on Merseyside, it is most likely that Sir Alex Ferguson has personally picked his fellow Scot to take over at Manchester United.

It is expected that an official announcement will be made tomorrow, but most media outlets are reporting that it is in fact, a done deal. Moyes is still expected to see out the season with Everton and will probably take over at the season’s end.

Everton, who reached the FA Cup semi-finals this season, are currently sixth in the Premier League table, six points adrift of Tottenham in fifth but five above Merseyside rivals Liverpool.

A number of high-profile football names believe Moyes is the right man to replace Ferguson, who won 38 trophies during his time at the United helm.

I’ve admired his work for a long time and approached him as far back as 1998 to discuss the position of Assistant Manager here. He was a young man then at the start of his career and has since gone on to do a magnificent job at Everton. There is no question he has all the qualities we expect of a manager at this Club.”

Sir Bobby Charlton said:

“I have always said that we wanted the next manager to be a genuine Manchester United man. In David Moyes, we have someone who understands the things that make this such a special club. We have secured a man who is committed to the long-term and will build teams for the future as well as now. Stability breeds success.

“David has tremendous strength of character and recognises the importance of bringing young players through and developing them alongside world class talent.  At United, I think David will be able to express himself.  I’m delighted he has accepted and I’m
