Manchester United are one of three Premier League clubs said to be chasing Ukrainian wingerYevhen Konoplyanka.
The 22-year-old – dubbed ‘the Ukrainian Lionel Messi’ is expected to star for his country at Euro 2012 and could see his valuation rise as a result although he plays for Dnipro in his homeland and is said to earn good money at the club, which is owned by Ukrainian conglomerate Privat Group.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are all keen and the radio station claims that Konoplyanka fits the profile for Manchester United and Arsenal in terms of age and transfer fee.
Manchester United have been linked with several transfer prospects this season, as Sir Alex Ferguson is determined to ensure that his side does not suffer due to injuries as they did last season
He made his debut for Dnipro in the 2007-08 season and has since racked up 102 games for the club, scoring 19 goals. He made the first of 21 international appearances for Ukraine in 2010.
Dnipro’s billionaire owner though has a reputation for rewarding his key players regularly and will not want to let the midfielder leave. Ukraine have a rich footballing culture as only two of the players in the 23-man squad ply their trade outside the country. However, the footballer is keen on playing for top European clubs, and his performance in the Euro 2012 could significantly drive up his asking price.
