Manchester United £20 Million Bid for transfer Robin Van Persie Latest News From Man Utd / Manchester United Transfer News

Manchester United chief executive David Gill steps in to oversee move for Arsenal captain Robin van Persie transfer.

Manchester United United have been rebuffed with bids of £10million and £15million for the Dutch striker but manager Alex Ferguson has said the club will “just have to persevere” with their attempts to sign the 29 year-old.

Van Persie has told the club that he wants to leave and would prefer to join United rather than Juventus. In his 16 years at the club, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has never sold a player to his rival Ferguson and wants Van Persie, who scored 30 Premier League goals last season, to go abroad if he is to leave rather than join an English rival.

Sir Alex Ferguson says Manchester United’s attempts to sign Robin van Persie from Arsenal have stalled.

Ferguson did however reveal on Thursday that the club has hit a brick wall in their negotiations with Arsenal.

“We have made a bid and they Arsenal have been trying to negotiate with other clubs,” said the United manager. “I don’t have a gut feeling on it at the moment, I must admit. We’re not getting any breakthrough with Arsenal. It’s difficult to say why they’re operating this way. I don’t know what their thoughts are because they’re not giving anything away.”

But if Manchester United increase their bid in excess of £20million a deal is likely to be brokered this weekend between Gill, 56, and Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis.

Both are on the English FA’s Professional Game Board and the FA Council. Gill was in London this week to help drum up additional support at an Manchester United investor roadshow hosted by lead adviser Jefferies Group Inc. United kicked off their stock market flotation yesterday before listed on the New York Stock Exchange today.

If the Manchester United transfer were to be completed though, it seems he would take up the role of goalscorer-in-chief. Issues would arise at Old Trafford with the need to smudge Kagawa, Rooney and van Persie into a team, but most likely would be one of the former pair being shifted to a wider role as and when the three of them were required to play in the same XI.

Rooney has proven how adept he is at exploiting deeper positions, and is said to be relishing the prospect of playing with a master finisher like van Persie, and if he were to become Batman to the Dutchman’s Robin then that would be one hell of a strike partnership, and one that could work.

  1. RVP has a brighter future at Old Traford than at emirates. Due to the fact that the dutch man is aging and has nothing to show in line with trophies, I strongly believe Persie should join the winning club and forget a business Arsenal. I also think with his form, in two seaons if not one at old traford, he shall contest in the world player of the year race.

  2. Reed, so you’re saying that only two players from a team that finished about 20 points above arsenal last season would get into their team? That is a moronic statement. Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, Scholes, Kagawa, Valencia, Nani, Rooney, Hernandez and Welbeck… there’s about ten players who would have a great chance of getting into the Arsenal team, Arsenal’s defense is awful and other than Van Persie there are no real goalscorers at the club. Van Persie wants to go to United because they have a genuine chance of winning trophies while without Van Persie Arsenal wouldn’t even have got into the champion’s league for next season. All this from some one who isn’t even a Man United fan haha.

  3. Looking at the Arsenal/Man U squads I don’t see a single player, aside from Vidic and Rooney, that would make it in the Arsenal starting 11. Why would RVP want to move to United? Yeah, they’ve won a ton of titles but they have no chance of winning it this year. Their midfield is probably the 5th or 6th best in the league.

  4. Arsene Wenger must make sure Van Persie does not go to Man United at all cost. Even if it is imminent for Van Persie to leave , it should never be to their closest rivals (Man United or Man City). By doing so, is not only admitting to the world that Arsenal is a selling club but more significantly it also exemplifies the fact that the Arsenal FC basically has no title ambition. Why should Arsenal fans support a club with no ambition?

  5. Wenger is absolutely right to resist this transfer. Would Utd have let Rooney go to City if he wanted to? I think not. Man Utd fans need to stop slating Arsenal, it is childish and unfair. Concentrate on learning basic grammar and spelling instead – “well come”??

  6. it seems that Wenger wants to denie RVP from playing with Utd, but he has no choice because RVP wants to join UTD and there is not any other team that made an offer. RVP well come to the right team,WAZA, KAGAWA,UTD fans and other lads are waiting for you. WENGER should know that RVP wants the real team.
