A man allegedly killed his elderly mother in Indian city of Thane after she refused to give her Rs 600.
Mumbai, Nov 30/NationalTurk- At a time when Indian economy grew by 5.3 percent from the period between July-September, a man in a village in Indian city of Thane killed his elderly mother for just Rs 600.
According to police 50-year-old Samwar Kaliya Vedga, a resident of Saphale village in Thane city in Indian state of Maharashtra had a quarrel with his over 70-year-old mother Laxmi few days back. “Laxmi used to get a monthly government pension of Rs 600 and her son wanted her to give it to him”.
Police said Laxmi refused to give the money to his son, leading to an argument and scuffle. “During the scuffle Samwar overpowered her mother and allegedly killed her. He later buried the body in the house to destroy the evidence. However, when neighbours did not notice her, they raised an alarm and informed police”.
Police have arrested the accused and also dug his house. “The police have exhumed the body of Laxmi. Further investigations are going on,” a police officer Sampat N Chavan was quoted as having said by media reports.
There have been several such instances where for few hundred or few thousand rupees, a person has killed his/her near and dear ones in India.
