Losing weight by walking: Simon lost 40 kilos with this trick

Simon Whittington has been trying to lose weight for years. In vain – diets didn’t work. Until he finally discovered walking for himself. Today he regularly walks up to 15 kilometers – and has already lost 40 kilos.

Many people discovered their love for walking during the Corona pandemic. Sam Whittington is one of them. With his lifestyle, he proves how positive it can be not only for mood, but also for body weight.

What may sound like the literal walk to some, was a long way for him: By counting calories and walking, Simon lost a whopping 40 kilograms and dropped his weight from 150 to 110 kilograms.

Lose weight and improve your quality of life by walking

For years no diet worked for him until he happened to see a weight loss group poster. At first he was skeptical, as he suspected that such a group would consist mainly of women.

But the poster didn’t let him go: via Instagram he contacted men who obviously attended these meetings and also encouraged him. The group dynamic motivated Simon to completely change his life.

His diet: small but consistent restrictions

Where he used to be home a lot and spent most of his money on bad junk food, these foods are now largely eliminated from his diet. Bad ingredients, unhealthy fats, lots of calories – junk food is cheap, but also for a reason, he told the ‘Daily Star’.

Now Simon consistently tracks his calories with an app. He treats himself to chocolate from time to time, but in moderation. And groceries like the ready-made pizza we loved before are simply no longer put in the shopping trolley.

In addition, Simon does a lot of sport: he now regularly goes to the gym, rides his bike and burns more than 1,200 calories on a three-hour walk.

On average, Simon runs between eight and 15 kilometers on a walk and also lets his followers participate on his Instagram channel — a kind of external motivation.

Walks can be easily integrated into everyday life

Fresh air is good for body and soul, but getting some exercise is even better. Especially if you are sitting at home more than usual due to the corona pandemic and possibly working in the home office, you should make sure that you allow yourself fresh air and exercise every day, especially during this time. Both strengthen the immune system and lift the spirits.

If you don’t feel like going for a jog in the morning before work, you can, for example, take a short walk around the block during your lunch break or go for a lap in the evening.

Fresh air wakes you up and clears your head, and regardless of whether you have kids or not: regular exercise keeps your body busy and your metabolism going.

Anyone who gets used to going for walks not only improves their own quality of life, but could possibly also see this on the scales – like Simon.
