Second transfer attack from Liverpool Red wants to Transfer Swedish defender Andreas Granqvist from Serie A team Genoa.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been linked to a number of players plying their trade in Serie A, perhaps he believes a bargain is there to be had and now the Anfield manager has taken a liking to experienced Genoa defender Andreas Granqvist.
Liverpool sent scouts to view Genoa defender Andreas Granqvist and are said to be lining up a €6m offer.
Experienced Swedish international Andreas Granqvist is a centre back who spent a year in the Premier League with Wigan prior to a successful three year stint FC Groningen which led the 27 year old making a move to join the Serie A side just over a year ago.
Granqvist was part of Sweden’s Euro 2012 squad and is certainly at the peak of his powers. Rodgers may feel he needs more strength in depth at the back given Daniel Agger’s consistent injury concerns and the big defender would surely be tempted by a move to Anfield.
There were rumours the Anfield club had emissaries in the stands for Genoa’s 1-1 draw with Palermo on Saturday evening.
The reports now suggest that Liverpool were sufficiently impressed to prepare a €6m January bid for the Swedish international.
He was not their first choice when scouting Serie A for defensive talent, but Torino and Italy star Angelo Ogbonna is considered too expensive at €15m.
Granqvist was already very close to joining Lazio over the summer, but the two clubs could not agree on financial terms.
