Southampton winger Adam Lallana is getting £ 25m transfer to Liverpool after World Cup 2014.
Southampton’s star winger England national Adam Lallana has reiterated he wishes to play in the Champions League, fuelling speculation the Southampton man will secure a switch to Liverpool in the summer.
Southampton’s Adam Lallana is going to be Liverpool’s Adam Lallana when Anfield bean-counters send £25m the way of St Mary’s.
He says “I’m ambitious. I have aspirations to play in the Champions League. Ever since I’ve played international football, you realise there’s that other level to play at. It would be great.
I went to a couple of the Champions League games last year and the feeling you get, the buzz, it’s an unbelievable atmosphere. It’s definitely a goal of mine to play in the Champions League.”
Reds Boss Brendan Rodgers, who guided the Reds to second-placed finish this season, admits many of the deals he hopes to tie up will be far from straightforward and Liverpool are likely to face a fight to prise Lallana from St Mary’s Stadium.
Liverpool are working hard to bring their transfer targets to Anfield but Rodgers says the World Cup presents another stumbling block in their hopes of finalising deals early.
“Obviously it’s the off-season and we have the World Cup and other various things going on,” Brendan Rodgers said.
Adam Lallana’s move to Anfield has been for some time now and the Reds will most likely want to confirm a deal before the World Cup starts in Brazil on June 12.
Liverpool sporting director Ian Ayre Southampton is said to have agreed on everything with the club
