Srinagar / NationalTurk – Two days after militants attacked three liquor shops in Srinagar, the summer capital of the region, suspected guerillas Saturday attacked a wine shop in Jammu, winter capital of Indian administered Kashmir, killing one person and injuring five others.
Police sources said suspected militants persons lobbed a hand grenade towards a wine shop near Narwal, Jammu at around 19.15 hours.
“The explosive device exploded with a big bang, causing injuries to six persons. The injured were shifted to a local hospital, where one of the critically injured succumbed to injuries,” they said.
Immediately after the explosion, police men reached the spot and sealed the area.
A top police officer said the investigations have been launched to ascertain the nature of the explosion.
He said a red alert has been sounded in the entire region. “Police, paramilitary and army men have been asked to maintain extra vigil,” he said.
This is the second attack on a liquor shop in the region. Earlier, on Thursday, militants had carried attacks on three liquor shops in Heewan Hotel in Boulevard area of Srinagar. One person was killed and four others injured in the attack.
