Likewise on Thursday and Friday. Is it going to be a riot farewell? / Lewandowski provokes Bayern again
Is he leaving FC Bayern for Barcelona or not? That’s the big question about Munich’s star striker Robert Lewandowski. The exchange statements and offers from the club from Spain probably still did not lead to serious talks with the bosses of the record champions around Oliver Kahn. Lewandowski then appeared bored at the start of training on Wednesday (read more about this here).
He was also late for the unit on Thursday. The “Bild” reports that the Bayern star drove late to the site on Säbener Straße again on Friday. His red car turned into the underground car park at 9:08 a.m. The players should actually arrive at the club premises by 9 a.m. at the latest.
On Thursday it still looked as if a conciliatory farewell could result if this were to happen. Because Lewandowski was already in a better mood, hugged Serge Gnabry, who had his birthday, and also spoke to coach Julian Nagelsmann.
“Team suffers from the situation” / Lewandowski provokes Bayern again
Record national player Lothar Matthäus told “Bild” about the current situation of the offensive player: “I wish that the drama about Robert Lewandowski will be over quickly. It’s annoying, it hurts the team, it hurts the club. The team suffers from the situation, she discusses. It damages the team structure.”
It seemed on Thursday that Lewandowski could have come to a similar conclusion and therefore no longer wanted to continue his unmotivated attitude from the opening training session. But the fact that the offensive player arrived late on Friday can be interpreted as a renewed provocation towards the Bayern bosses.
Matthäus added to the “Bild”: “With a player as deserved as Robert, I sit down at the table and find the best solution. I don’t see a big difference in the approach of Barcelona and Lewandowski to how things went at Bayern with Mané and could now work with de Ligt: The interested club and player will find a solution, that will be clearly communicated. And then the clubs will find a solution.”
FC Barcelona wanted to increase supply
Bayern recently signed star striker Sadio Mané from Liverpool and are working on signing Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus. According to Italian media reports, the Italian record champions want to collect at least 90 million euros for De Ligt. Bayern are reportedly offering around €60m plus bonuses for the 22-year-old, who has been playing for Juventus since the summer of 2019.
Regarding Lewandowski, it is not known whether the new offer from the Catalans of 50 million euros transfer fee plus bonuses planned according to media reports has already been submitted to Bayern. According to reports, Bayern would be willing to negotiate from this sum. As of now, the club bosses have stated that Lewandowski should fulfill his contract, which is dated June 30, 2023.
