It is alleged that Chelsea are ready to offer Porto £45 million for the Brazilian Hulk.

However, while Hulk is capable of playing as the main striker, he has flourished both in Portugal and for Brazil primarily on the right of a three-pronged attack. Chelsea have so far been reluctant to meet Porto’s extremely high asking price for the 26-year-old.

It is understood Blues will hold talks with both clubs next week when Chelsea’s top brass are in Monaco for the Champions League draw.

Di Matteo said: “I don’t know if there will be new arrivals. We’re probably a bit light in attacking positions.”

The player’s agent, Teodoro Fonseca, however, insists that there is still a chance his client could move on in the near future.

“Hulk has a contract. He likes Porto but at the moment everything has a question mark,” Fonseca told Radio Renascenca.

“We sometimes want a player to stay, but the conditions aren’t the best. Everything is possible in the world of football.”

Chelsea will take on Atletico Madrid in the European Supercup in Monaco on Friday week.
