Kyiv is under fire again. Mayor Vitali Klitschko appeals to the population to get to safety. Shortly before, the company Flixbus had announced that it would resume its trips to Kyiv. More in the live ticker.
According to official information, the Ukrainian capital Kyiv has come under fire in a new Russian attack. There were several explosions in the Darnytsia district, as Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced on Telegram. There was initially no information on possible victims. Rescue workers are on the spot, it said. Air alarms can be heard in the capital several times a day.
Klitschko appealed: “Please don’t ignore the air raid alarms!” Because people who had fled the attacks are now returning to Kyiv, the mayor called for this to be stopped. “Stay in safe places,” he said. Meanwhile, the German long-distance bus platform Flixbus has announced that it will be offering trips to the Ukrainian capital again.
“The safety of our passengers and drivers is our top priority,” said regional manager Michal Lehmann on Friday. “We have been waiting for the right time to resume some of our routes, particularly to the Ukrainian capital.” Warsaw-Kyiv and Prague-Kyiv services will resume on Monday. A new route from Budapest to Kyiv is scheduled to go into operation on April 28.
