King Harald V takes part in the Sailing World Championships – at the age of 85
At 85, Norway's King Harald is still active. Despite his old age, he now wants to set sail again.

Norway’s King Harald V celebrated his 85th birthday in February. However, his age is not preventing him from taking part in the Sailing World Championships in Switzerland at the end of July. A spokesman for the Norwegian royal family confirmed on Thursday the German Press Agency that he was the skipper on the boat “Sira” together with six other people on the list of participants in the World Cup in the eight-meter class.
The king is in good shape. “He trains with the crew,” the spokesman continued. Harald V. is a passionate sailor and, according to the royal family, competed in a sailing competition for the first time at the age of ten.
Recently, however, the Norwegian monarch had repeatedly had problems with his health. A year and a half ago he had to have an operation on his leg. In March 2022, the nobleman then became infected with the corona virus. The 85-year-old monarch showed mild symptoms of illness and was on sick leave for a few days, it was said at the time.
