Kenneth Mitchell died at just 49 years old. The actor had been suffering from an incurable nerve disease for years. His family said a touching goodbye.
The actor Kenneth Mitchell died on Saturday in Los Angeles, according to American media reports. He was 49 years old. Mitchell was known, among other things, for his roles in “Star Trek: Discovery” and “Captain Marvel”. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind two children aged 11 and 16.
Mitchell had suffered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a degenerative nerve disease, for years. The family confirmed the actor’s death through a post on Instagram. “Ken was always a hard worker and passionate about everything he tackled,” it said.
“These qualities found their greatest fulfillment in his role as a father. He was extremely dedicated to enriching his children’s lives with creativity and confidence, even as his illness took its toll. Ken will forever be proud of what his children became has become,” it continued.

The actor made his illness public in an interview with People magazine in 2020. He was diagnosed with ALS in 2018. He had been dependent on a wheelchair since 2019. The illness also forced him to quit the lead role in a series in which he had been playing.
“For five and a half years, Ken was faced with a series of terrible challenges as a result of his illness, but he overcame them all in typical Ken style: with dignity and dedication. He lived a full life and enjoyed it. Every day he lived, “He viewed him as a gift and he was sure that he would never be alone,” his family wrote on Mitchell’s Instagram page.
