Katy Perry and John Mayer went on a date. They are rumored to be the latest celebrity couple and hitting up Chateau Marmont together for dinner only fueled those rumors more. On August 1, Perry and Mayer were spotted leaving the popular celebrity haunt in the same vehicle. Sources tell PEOPLE Magazine that they were indeed on a date, but that they are taking things slow.

“I don’t think either of them are trying for anything serious right now. She’s not talking like he’s ‘The One.’ She’s comfortable around guys who understand the craziness of that world, which he definitely does,” shared a source.

Katy Perry and John Mayer on a date is a bit surprising. Perry has been linked to Robert Ackroyd for a few weeks but it looks like she’s keeping her options open. Mayer, on the other hand, is known as a Hollywood playboy. He has dated Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson, and Taylor Swift, to name a few. Rumor has it that he isn’t the nicest guy on the block either… taking it from Swift’s song, “Dear John.”

Mayer also likes to kiss and tell. Remember when he said that Simpson was “crazy” in bed? Chances are he will have a lot to say about Perry if they continue seeing each other.
