New Delhi, May 30/Nationalturk – The Japan’s bullet train may ply in India soon as Tokyo has pledged to invest heavily in building high speed railway systems in the country.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was recently on a state tour to Japan. He held talks with Japanese PM Shinzo Abe on several issues including introduction of high speed railway systems in India.
Indian PM sought Japan’s cooperation in supporting the introduction of high speed railway systems in India. “Singh appreciated Japan’s high level of expertise in designing and implementing Shinkansen (Bullet Train) systems. He conveyed that India will plan such projects based on its infrastructure priorities, commercial viability and financial resources in India”.
‘India, Japan will cooperate in setting up high speed railway systems’
Indian PM and his Japanese counterpart issued a joint statement yesterday at the conclusion of Singh’s visit to Japan. In the joint statement, it was stressed that two countries will cooperate on setting up high speed railway systems in India.
The joint statement stated that Prime Ministers of India and Japan during their talks have decided to co-finance a joint feasibility study of high speed railway system on Mumbai-Ahmedabad route in India.
Reports said Mumbai-Ahmedabad rail line would stretch 500 kilometres at an estimated cost of upto one trillion yen.
Now that Japan has pledged to invest heavily in building high speed railway systems in the country, India is set to benefit from the famed Japanese bullet train technology. The introduction of bullet trains will help the travelers to travel in quick time to their destinations.
Experts said introduction of a high-speed rail system in India is going to be a very iconic, very special project.
