Izmir Governor: We are in the first place in drug use

İzmir Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger said that the city ranks first in Turkey in terms of drug use and risk analysis.

İzmir Addiction Workshop was organized by İzmir Governorship and Provincial Health Directorate. Speaking at the meeting, Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger said that only one out of 10 addicts could be rehabilitated.

Ali Köşger said, “The point is to ensure that people continue their normal lives without becoming addicted to it. Unfortunately, drug addiction is at the root of many crimes in İzmir. We know that many people involved in theft are involved in this crime for the supply of drugs,” he said. Emphasizing that the fight against drugs is one of their priorities, Köşger said:

– In terms of drug use and risk analysis, İzmir comes first in Turkey. İzmir needs to be more cautious in the fight against addiction. We need to take action. We need to urgently take social, physical and human measures by approaching the issue sensitively, without delaying or neglecting it.

– We should all take the initiative and feel this problem in our hearts. What should we do? How can we turn these children into the wealth of the nation? How can we rehabilitate? I think that this workshop will yield important results on these issues.
