Speculation is increasing in Italy that Milan president Silvio Berlusconi is in talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin to allow the ladder to invest in AC Milan via the partially state-owned utility firm Gazprom.

Silvio Berlusconi firmly underlines the possibility of foreign companies inveting on AC Milan with that statment: ‘The doors of AC Milan are open for anyone who wants to help our squad. We have Milan in our hearts and we give particular importance to thinking about what’s best for Milan.’

Gazprom to invest for AC Milan
Gazprom already invests heavily in sports and is the jersey sponsor of 1991 European Cup winners Red Star Belgrade, Russian champions Zenit St Petersburg and Bundesliga powerhouse outfit Schalke 04. The Italian sports daily believes Gazprom will purchase a 25% stake in return for a €180 million cash injection into Milan’s coffers.
