Indian film star Salman Khan Tuesday joined rightwing Hindu leader and prime ministerial candidate of Hindu group BJP Narendra Modi in the kite flying festival.
Mumbai, Jan 14/Nationalturk – The rightwing Hindu leader and prime ministerial candidate of Hindu group BJP Narendra Modi got a shot in arm when Indian film star Salman Khan joined him in the kite flying festival.
“God will decide who is the best man for India. May the best man win,” Salman dressed in jeans and a black T-shirt told reporters in Ahmedabad (capital of Gujarat State) when asked him if he endorsed Modi for the country’s top job.
Modi, who is Chief Minister of Gujarat, is described by his critics as a divisive leader who failed to protect Muslims during communal riots in 2002 in his State. Over 1000 Muslims were killed in the riots.
‘Modi should be able to fulfil his destiny’
The film actor Salman Khan said Modi should be able to fulfil his destiny.
“He is a great man, I have not seen this sort of development elsewhere,” he said.
Asked whether he supports Modi, Salman said, “I am a film actor and have limited knowledge about politics.”
Later, Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi took to Twitter and shared his picture with Salman Khan.
Modi also had lunch with Khan.
Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh during his recent press conference in Indian capital (New Delhi) had said if Modi was elected prime minister of the country, it will be disastrous.
The parliamentary elections in India may be held in May-June this year.
