India and Singapore have pledged to strengthen their ties.
New Delhi, Aug 20/Nationalturk – India and Singapore have decided to strengthen the ties between the two countries.
“Singapore’s Defence Minister, Dr Ng Eng Hen, met Indian Defence Minister Arun Jaitley in Indian capital and discussed issues of mutual interest,” an Indian official spokesperson said.
Singapore’s Defence Minister was accompanied by High Commissioner of Singapore in India Lim Thuan Kuan and other officials of Singapore Ministry of Defence and the armed forces.
The spokesperson said during the meeting, both ministers expressed satisfaction over the wide ranging and comprehensive defence exchanges between the two countries.
“They agreed that the enhancement of defence relationship between the two countries was in the mutual interest of India and Singapore,” he said.
‘Exchanged views on global security scenario’
The two ministers exchanged views on the global and regional security scenario.
“In the context of security situation in the Asia Pacific region, both Ministers acknowledged the role of ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting (ADMM)-Plus framework in promoting dialogue and consensus in the region. Both noted the commonalities in the security concerns of India and Singapore and acknowledged that there was scope for both countries to continue to work together for peace and stability,” the spokesperson said.
He said the two sides agreed to continue the robust engagements and work together to further substantiate defence interactions in the areas of mutual benefit.
India enjoys a good and friendly relations with Singapore.
