India has invited Pakistan Prime minister Nawaz Sharif for swearing in ceremony of country’s newly elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 26.
New Delhi, May 21/Nationalturk – India has invited Pakistan Prime minister Nawaz Sharif and many South Asian leaders for May 26 oath taking ceremony of country’s newly elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Indian foreign ministry sources said Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, many south Asian and other world leaders including from Europe would be invited for oath-taking ceremony of Modi on May 26 (Monday).
Sources said Nawaz may not attend the swearing-in ceremony but may send some top officials.
Modi’s rightwing BJP won general elections in India
Modi’s rightwing Hindu party BJP won the recently held general elections in India.
BJP’s spokesperson said all heads of government from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) have been given invitations to attend Modi’s swearing in ceremony.
Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif had congratulated Modi after his party won general elections in India and invited him to visit Pakistan at a convenient time.
BJP chief Rajnath Singh had said yesterday that about 3000 people would be invited for Modi’s oath-taking ceremony.
Modi was yesterday appointed as prime minister by Indian president Pranab Mukherjee and oath taking ceremony has fixed for 1800 hours on May 26.
