India has invited Japan to invest in low budget hotel sector of India.
New Delhi, Sept 3/Nationalturk – The Indian government has invited Japan to invest in low-budget hotel sector of India under Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
Japanese Senior Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Hiroshi Kajiyama and Indian Minister Tourism minister Dr K Chiranjeevi held a meeting in Indian capital New Delhi today.
“India and Japan have decided to strengthen Cooperation in Tourism Sector. The two countries have resolved to strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector,” an official of Indian tourism department said.
He said the two sides agreed to move further on signing an MoU (agreement) to promote bilateral tourism relations.
India Govt trying to improve Golf, MICE tourism
Indian Tourism Minister Chiranjeevi told his Japanese counterpart about various measures being taken by Indian government to improve Golf tourism and MICE Tourism in India, which may be attractive to Japenese tourists and businessmen.
He said he invited Japan to invest in the low budget hotel sector, where India has liberalized FDI route.
“There was a good potential for budget hotels for tourists coming from across the world to India,” Chiranjeevi said adding Japanese minister told him that the proposal for investments in the budget hotel sector could form a part of the MOU between the two countries.
Japanese minister will lead delegation for talks next month
Chiranjeevi said Japanese Senior Vice Tourism Minister assured him that he would like to lead a delegation of businessmen from Japan in the next meeting in which he hoped to conclude the agreement/MOU with India.
Japanese minister told Indian tourism minister said Japan Tourism is organizing a world class two-day India-Japan tourism Expo in Indian capital on January 13 to 17, 2014. “We have requested Indian Tourism Minister to cooperate in organizing the Expo,” he said.
