The protest began Saturday when several thousand protesters, mostly young activists, gathered in front of the New York Stock Exchange on famous Wall Street shouting slogans such as “We must end corporate tyranny and corruption”, “Debt is slavery” and “Occupy Wall Street!”, what gave the protest its name. By Tuesday, the crowd had lost in numbers but not in spirit. The United States and the world are in deep financia crisis, caused by debts of many countries, the Wall Street protesters stated. The idea for the “Occupy Wall Street!” protest apparently comes from a Vancouver-based magazine called Adbusters, which describes itself as “a not-for-profit, reader-supported, 120,000-circulation Canadian magazine concerned about the erosion and corruption of our physical and cultural environments by commercial and industrial forces.”

The protesters name their goal : To force the Us government and Barack Obama to make decisions that affect the one percent of the population represented by Wall Street’s corporations, responsible for the financial and economic problems of the remaining 99 percent of the U.S. population and the world.
