Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain has warned that government will look into other options if talks with terrorist group Pakistan Taliban fail.

Islamabad, Dec 13/Nationalturk – Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain has warned that if talks with terrorist group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) fail then country’s government will look into other options.

“Only if talks fail with TTP, then the government will look into other options”, Pakistan’ television channel Geo News quoted country’s president Mamnoon Hussain as saying.

He said the civilian government led by PM Nawaz Sharif wants to resolve issues with Taliban militants through dialogue.

Sharif met President Mamnoon Hussain at presidential house yesterday and discussed overall situation in the country.

The two are reported to have discussed in detail the present security and political situation in the country. They also discussed modalities for starting dialogue with TTP.

Many political, religious groups oppose talks with TTP

Many political and religious groups in Pakistan have been opposing talks with TTP but PM Nawaz Sharif’s party, opposition leader Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and religious groups like Jamaat-e-Islami have been supporting dialogue with the dreaded terrorist group TTP.

TTP’s leadership has rejected dialogue offer from Pakistan after its former chief Hakeemullah Mehsud was killed in US drone attack in country’s tribal agency of North Wazirstan on November 1 this year.

In a related development, Pakistan’s newly appointed army chief General Raheel Sharif called on PM Nawaz sharif at PM House today.

The two discussed matters of national security and military functioning.

Sources said Nawaz brief General Raheel about government’s desire to have talks with TTP.
