Pilots of the Spanish airline Iberia convened on Friday a 24 new strike days on March, April and May to protest the creation of a low-cost subsidiary.
In a statement, the airmen members of the Spanish Union of Airline Pilots (SEPLA) announced that the strikes will be held on March 16, 19, 23, 25, 26 and 30, April 2, 4, 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, 27 and 30 and May 2, 4, 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25 and 28.
According to SEPLA, on Monday cabin crew union will announce their adherence to the strike, with work stoppage for the same days.
These new strikes against the low-cost subsidiary Iberia Express join the 12 strikes carried out by pilots from December 18.
The last five, which took place in n February, were also joined by some of the ground staff and crew of the largest airline of this European country.
Iberia’s executives confirmed that the launch of the new company, which will begin flying on March 25 over short and medium distances, is non-negotiable.
