Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez swore in new members of the Administration in the Miraflores Palace, seat of government in Caracas, Venezuela.

Chavez invested the ministers Pedro Calzadilla (Culture) and María Pilar Hernández (Youth) and Brigadier Wilfredo Figueroa, new commander of the presidential honor guard.

The President urged Calzadilla and Hernández to design policies in their respective offices to speed up the transition to socialism based on spiritual values.

He stressed the full support of the Government, and urged them to strengthen social work in schools and media to achieve “the definitive transformation of the exclusive and selfish capitalist model.”

Iris Valera, head of the new Ministry of Correctional Services, was not made official in her post because of health problems, stated Hugo Chavez personally.

At another point in his speech, the Venezuelen president Hugo Chavez suggested that the Minister of Education, Maryann Hanson, increase the frequency of issue of the children magazine Tricolor, to ensure access for all children in the public education system in Venezuela.

According to the official sources, the publication of the magazine will be ready in September.
