A huge landslides in Italy wreck havoc as thousands of villagers in Calabria are evacuated.
Torrential rain in Italy has caused huge landslides in the country with damage estimated to be up to tens of millions of Euro.
One mudslide in particular, in the village of Maierato in Calabria was caught on camera by an amateur cameraman. An estimated 2,300 villagers were taken to safety.
Several more mudslides were reported overnight.
About 300 of them were housed in impromptu shelters, a police school and a gymnasium.
Local media have blamed the unplanned construction of buildings surrounding the mudslide affected areas as most have poor safety standards.
