Howitzer from Germany arrived at the Ukrainian army
For weeks, the delivery was a political issue. Now the first self-propelled howitzer from Germany is in use in the Ukraine.
According to Ukrainian information, the Panzerhaubitze 2000 promised by Germany is now in the possession of the local military. It was “finally part of the 155mm howitzer arsenal of Ukrainian artillery,” Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.
He thanked Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD) “for all efforts” to support Ukraine.
Education in Rhineland-Palatinate
At the beginning of May, Lambrecht had announced the sale of seven Panzerhaubitz 2000 from Bundeswehr stocks. The Netherlands should provide five more examples of howitzers mounted on a tank chassis.
The delivery of the self-propelled howitzer is “an example of international cooperation in support of Ukraine,” Reznikov wrote in another tweet. He also thanked Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren.
Germany had taken over the training of the Ukrainian soldiers on howitzers. It began on May 11 at the Bundeswehr artillery school in Idar-Oberstein, Rhineland-Palatinate, and should be completed after around 40 days, i.e. this week. The completion of the training was also not confirmed by the Ministry of Defense.

I appreciate all efforts of my colleague 🇩🇪 #DefMin Christine Lambrecht in support of 🇺🇦.
