Charlize Theron has said goodbye to her blonde hair. The actress surprisingly appeared at a charity event with an unfamiliar look, for which she dared an extreme type change: she now wears her mane in jet black.
The 46-year-old presented the new hair color at an event of her “Africa Outreach Project” in Universal City, California, near Los Angeles. The non-profit organization is committed to innovative HIV prevention programs for young people in Africa.
For the occasion, Charlize Theron opted for a casual outfit consisting of a white blouse and jeans. The 46-year-old combined black pumps and a matching clutch. The actress opted for a subtle make-up that, in combination with the new dark hair color, made her light eyes shine even more.
From blonde beauty to character actress
Charlize Theron is best known for her light mane. At the beginning of her Hollywood career, the native South African with German roots was mainly cast because of this look, mostly playing the blonde beauty alongside male leads. Until she got the role of the US serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the 2003 film “Monster” and also underwent a physical transformation for it.
Charlize Theron received numerous film awards for her performance, including the Oscar for Best Actress. Since then she has been cast for character roles again and again. Despite the greater variety in terms of acting, she mostly stayed true to her blond mane.
Once the 46-year-old showed up with a darker hair color: At the Oscars 2019 she presented a brunette bob. For her current look, she has now resorted to an even darker tone.
