U.S. actor Harrison Ford was injured Thursday when a plane he was piloting crash-landed in California, according to media reports.
The 72-year-old star of Indiana Jones films suffered cuts to his head when his vintage World War II training plane had an engine problem and crash-landed on a golf course in Los Angeles, NBC News said.
He was conscious when rescue teams reached him and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital.
Ben Ford, the actor’s son, tweeted from the hospital: “Dad is ok. Battered, but ok! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man.”
One of Hollywood’s most bankable actors, Ford rose to major stardom in the early 1980’s with the impact of his portrayal of action-adventure hero Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
He also appeared in many critically acclaimed films including Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Apocalypse Now, Blade Runner, The Fugitive, Witness and Frantic.
He is a longtime aviator and has crashed multiple times in the past.
