Iranian Movie ‘Nadar and Simin, a seperation’ Wins Golden Globe Award for best foreign language film despite the upcoming Iran US War.
Los Angeles / NationalTurk – Iranian drama ‘Nader and Simin; A Separation’ by Asqar Farhadi won the top award for best foreign language film at the Golden Globes in a ceremony held in Beverly Hills, California, on Sunday night.
Farhadi’s movie beat the Flowers of War from China, Belgian movie The Kid with Bike (Le Gamin au Velo), the Skin I Live In (La piel que habito) by Spanish veteran Pedro Almodovar, and In the Land of Blood and Honey from Bosnia-Herzegovina by Hollywood star Angelina Jolie.

On Saturday, the movie was also awarded by the 2012 Broadcast Film Critics Association. The 17th BFCA Annual Critics’ Choice Movie’s Best Foreign Language Film award went to Farhadi’s latest production.
Nader and Simin, A Separation has been recently selected by Wall Street Journal as the best film of the year 2011. The movie is about a married couple facing with a difficult decision: to improve the life of their child by moving to another country or to stay in Iran and look after a deteriorating parent who has Alzheimers.
The film has also been nominated for the 69th annual Golden Globe Awards, entering the festival’s Best Foreign Language Film line-up.
Iranian Director Asghar Farhadi : Iranians and Americans have no issues with each other
Farhadi’s latest production won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association’s 2011 Screenplay Award.
Farhadi, speaking after the ceremony to journalists in Beverly Hills, said that Iranians and Americans have “no issues with each other.”
“In my opinion, the people [of the two countries] have no issues with each other. The people of Iran, as I mentioned earlier, are very peace-loving,” he said. “I hope not just for Iran but all over the world that no one experiences war, and war becomes something that we discuss as something from the past.”
The international film magazine, Sight and Sound recently announced Farhadi’s Separation as the second best film of the year 2011.
The critically-acclaimed movie has entered the Best Foreign film line-up of the International Press Academy (IPA) Satellite Awards. The 2011 New York Film Critics Circle also granted its Best Foreign Film award to A Separation.
The New York Times has predicted that Farhadi’s film will win the 2012 Best Foreign Film Oscar.
Nader and Simin, a Separation collects awards globally
The movie won the best film honor of the 2011 Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA), the Golden Bear Award of the 2011 Berlin International Film Festival as well as the event’s Silver Bears for the entire male and female cast ensemble.
The Golden Arena prize of Croatia’s 2011 Pula Film Festival, and the Best Feature Film and the Best Screenplay awards of the 32nd Durban International Film Festival are among the film’s other international honors.
The 2011 Broadcast Film Critics Association awards ceremony was held on January 12, 2012.
Nader and Simin: A Separation recounts the story of a middle-class Iranian couple who are getting a divorce, while considering the future of their only child.
