The Green finance politician Lisa Paus is to become the new Federal Minister for Family Affairs. This was confirmed by party circles to the ARD capital studio. She succeeds Anne Spiegel, who recently resigned.

Spiegel resigned on Monday. She had referred to strong political pressure as justification and wanted to avert damage from the office. The former state minister in Rhineland-Palatinate was accused, among other things, of a four-week family vacation shortly after the flood disaster in the Ahr Valley in 2021.
