It is the yacht “Dilbar”, the largest in the world, 156 meters long and with an estimated value of about 600 million dollars according to Forbes magazine.
Germany officially confiscated on Thursday (04.14.2022) the largest yacht in the world, owned by Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov, within the framework of sanctions against Moscow for the war in Ukraine, according to a police source.
The yacht “Dilbar”, 156 meters long and with an estimated value of about 600 million dollars (according to Forbes magazine) was being repaired in Hamburg since October 2021.
German customs had been investigating its owner for several weeks since he was hiding behind companies in tax havens.
But “after long investigations”, the German judicial police managed to identify its owner, Alisher Usmanov’s sister, Gulbajor Ismailova, who was also in the crosshairs of European sanctions.
Her brother, 68, was listed in 2021 as the sixth richest person in the UK, according to the Sunday Times.
Dozens of yachts belonging to Russian oligarchs were seized in the wake of Western sanctions.
For its part, the French government reported that it has frozen 33 properties on the Côte d’Azur, Paris and elsewhere, belonging to Russian oligarchs sanctioned for the invasion of Ukraine.
The Finance Ministry published an updated list of said Russian properties in France, including a luxury castle overlooking the Mediterranean at Cape Antibes, which allegedly belonged to sanctioned Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.
Together, the 33 properties are estimated to be worth more than €500 million. Unlike seized or seized property, frozen property remains with its owners and can continue to be lived in, but cannot be sold or rented.
The total value of Russian assets frozen or seized in France is close to €24 billion.
