Galatasaray win title for 21st time in 60th season of Turkish Super League.
Galatasaray became the champion in Turkish Super League after beating Goztepe 1-0 on Saturday in western Izmir province.
Bafetimbi Gomis scored for Galatasaray at the 66th minute of the match, securing the win for his team in the last week of the 2017-2018 season.
The Istanbul club clinched the title for the 21st time in the 60th season of the Turkish Super League.
Gomis became the top goal scorer of the season, and broke the record of the most scoring foreign footballer in a season in Turkey.
With Turkey’s league result, Galatasaray also secured a direct participation in the UEFA Champions League.

Other Istanbul clubs Fenerbahce, Medipol Basaksehir and Besiktas, all playing their last match Saturday evening, followed Galatasaray in the Turkish Super League.
Fenerbahce beat Atiker Konyaspor 3-2 in Istanbul, securing second place in the league and the right to play in UEFA Champions League qualification rounds.
Medipol Basaksehir managed to finish the league in third place and will participate in the UEFA Europa League qualification rounds, after beating Kasimpasa 3-2.
Last season’s champion Besiktas could only finish the league in fourth place, despite hammering Demir Grup Sivasspor 5-1. Besiktas will play in Europa League qualification rounds.
Turkish Super League saw a competitive season, as the first four teams finished with narrow point differences.
Champion Galatasaray finished with 75 points, while followers Fenerbahce, Medipol Basaksehir and Besiktas finished with 72, 72 and 71 points, respectively.
