Galatasaray appointed former player Hamza as coach

Turkish football giants Galatasaray announced on Monday that they appointed Hamza Hamzaoglu as their new manager.

According to their official Twitter account and website, 44-year old Hamza Hamzaoglu inked the official deal withGalatasaray at the Istanbulite club’s premises on Monday.

“We will do our best to succeed. I don’t feel any pressure. Now we are leading the league. I congratulate the team and former technical staff,” Hamzaoglu said.

” Galatasaray was always in my mind. I will try to do my best here and I am sure that the fever of Galatasaray in our hearts will heat up again,” the Turkish manager added.

He also praised Galatasaray’s Dutch star Wesley Sneijder by remarking, “Sneijder is one of the valuable members of the squad.”

Hamzaoglu played for Galatasaray from 1991 to 1995 as a midfielder.

The newly appointed manager promoted his former team, Akhisar Belediyespor, to Turkey’s top football division “the Spor Toto Super League” for the first time in the club’s history in 2012.

Hamzaoglu was recently assistant manager to Fatih Terim, the current manager of Turkey’s national football team.
