The G-20 summit has turned violent as hundreds of demonstrators protested the meeting held in Toronto as windows were shattered, police cars set ablaze on Saturday.
The Toronto police department have confirmed that at least 75 people were arrested and during the violence and they expect more people to be arrested.
Riot police were deployed to the streets to get the demonstrators under control while many of the protesters who turned violent were wearing black clothing and face masks.
Bill Blair, the Toronto Police Chief has said that his officers were aimed at by rocks and teargas, while the police reacted with teargas to disperse the crowed.
Blair said “I do not believe the individuals bent on vandalism and violence in our city are finished with their intent, and so we will remain vigilant, and we will be on the street all night and all tomorrow in sufficient numbers to deal with these individuals.”
While David Miller the Toronto Mayor said that people are welcome to express their thoughts but not in a violent way and that any violence will not be tolerated.
Miller also emphasized that only a few hundred out of the thousands were responsible for the bulk of the violence.
Meanwhile the G-20 global economic summit, consisting of the world most powerful and emerging economies is coming to a close after its second day.
The main subject of the G-20 summit was about the global recession, which was the worst since 1930, and how not to go into the same situation again.
