French veteran forward Thierry Henry announced his departure from US Major League Soccer team New York Red Bulls on Monday.
Confirming his departure on his verified Facebook account, Henry expressed that he played for his team for the last time against New England Revolution.
That match ended in a defeat that eliminated the Red Bulls from the Conference Finals.
He continued by saying that he will decide on his new club in a few weeks’ time. The 37-year old forward added that he enjoyed his four and a half years in New York.
He thanked his fans and teammates, technical and medical staff of the team as well as club staff and the Major League Soccer organization itself.
Having finished the regular season in the Eastern Conference in 4th place, the New York Red Bulls were eliminated by New England Revolution with 2-2 and 2-1 results in the Conference Finals.
They thus lost the chance of playing in the final for the league title.
