Four people are feared dead in flash flood triggered by cloudburst which hit Baggar village in Doda district around 157 km from Jammu.
The rescue operation went on through the day before being called off due to poor light. According to reports, the State Government has announced ex-gratia of Rs one lakh each to next of the kin of those feared dead.
The traffic on Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highway which was blocked due to the huge mass of slush has been restored after remaining closed for nearly two days.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (June’08) evening when there was massive cloud burst which triggered flash floods at eight places.
Minutes later mudslides hit the village and the highway washing away vehicles and damaging hotels and roadside eateries causing panic among the people.
